Through the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN), TriWest Healthcare Alliance and Carrara Treatment have partnered to provide veterans, active-duty service members, and their families with premium addiction treatment. This collaboration helps reduce the typical delays found in VA systems, enabling faster, more discreet access to world-class care at Carrara’s luxury rehab facilities.
Patients eligible through the CCN benefit from a streamlined process where TriWest manages referrals, authorizations, and billing, ensuring the journey to recovery begins without unnecessary hurdles. Carrara’s role in the network opens the door to a higher level of care for those who have served and their loved ones.
The Community Care Network is a program established by the VA to allow eligible veterans to receive healthcare services from approved providers outside of VA facilities. This is especially important when VA services are delayed, unavailable, or too far from the veteran’s location.
TriWest serves as the third-party administrator for 26 states in the western and midwestern U.S., connecting veterans to authorized providers like Carrara Treatment. Once referred and authorized, patients can access care including detox, inpatient rehab, and outpatient support—all covered through their VA benefits.
TriWest covers a comprehensive continuum of care for addiction recovery. Veterans and eligible dependents receive evidence-based treatment across multiple levels, all tailored to their clinical needs and personal goals. These services are available at Carrara’s Malibu and Hollywood Hills campuses.
Carrara Treatment is uniquely positioned to serve military clients thanks to its trauma-informed approach, experienced clinical team, and military cultural competency. Veterans often require more than standard treatment—they need care that understands their experience and provides emotional safety.
Carrara offers personalized treatment plans built around each client’s mental, emotional, and physical health. Services are delivered by professionals trained in treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders common among veterans and their families. The setting—luxurious, private, and tranquil—further supports long-term recovery and dignity in care.
Veterans in 26 states are eligible to access Carrara Treatment through the TriWest-administered Community Care Network. This network includes major hubs like California, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas, as well as underserved rural regions such as Montana, the Dakotas, and Alaska.
Even when a VA facility is nearby, delays or lack of specialized services may qualify a veteran for community care. Carrara’s staff works with TriWest to confirm eligibility and provide access to care regardless of the patient’s ZIP code. In some cases, travel to Carrara is approved when no local alternative meets the clinical need.
Many veterans suffer from both addiction and mental health conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Carrara’s dual-diagnosis approach ensures that these interconnected issues are treated together, improving both outcomes and long-term recovery.
Upon intake, every client undergoes a psychiatric evaluation to determine the presence of co-occurring disorders. Treatment plans may include trauma-focused therapy, EMDR, CBT, and psychiatric medication management, all delivered in an environment that respects military service and promotes healing.
If you or a loved one is a veteran, active-duty service member, or military family member facing addiction or co-occurring mental health issues, Carrara Treatment is here to help. As a TriWest-approved provider, we offer premium, trauma-informed care in three luxury facilities, often fully covered through the VA Community Care Network.
